Real Madrid are set to offer Luka Modric a lucrative contract extension as they attempt to fend off Inter’s advances for the midfielder, according to Sport Mediaset.
Modric agreed personal terms with the Nerazzurri last week and has decided he wants a new adventure in his career after winning four Champions League titles in five years with the Spanish giants, but Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is determined to keep the player and will do everything in his power to change the 32 year-old’s mind.
According to Sport Mediaset Perez will soon offer the midfielder a new contract that would raise his wages to €14 million per season, a figure that would see him become Real Madrid’s highest paid player and which eclipses the €10 million per season offer that Modric has already okayed from Inter.
Were Modric to decline the offer, however, and continue to demand a move to the Nerazzurri, Perez would need to reconsider his options and could be forced to let the World Cup runner-up leave.
