The Inter U-17 team coached by Andrea Zanchetti won the inaugural youth tournament that Inter organized in the memory of Pierluigi Casiraghi, a legendary youth scout at the club who passed away recently, at the Stadio Breda in Sesto San Giovanni yesterday.
The Nerazzurri defeated Real Madrid 1-0 in the final thanks to a penalty which Esposito converted. Real Madrid attacked ferociously in the second half but Nerazzurrini keeper Filip Stankovic produced a string of saves to keep the scoreline in favor of Inter.
Inter’s CEO Alessandro Antonello, Sporting Director Piero Ausilio, vice Sporting Director Dario Baccin and Head of the Nerazzurri’s Elite Academy Roberto Samaden were all present to see Inter’s U-17 win the inaugural tournament.
The Nerazzurri CEO honoured the Casiraghi family and discussed the important role that Pierluigi had had within the world of Inter and according to Inter.it he is quoted as saying: “It was a pleasure for Inter to organise a tournament to remember such a special man. We intend to repeat it over the next few years.”
Paolo Manighetti, who is Inter’s head of scouting abroad, handed Lorenzo Pirola the Pierluigi Casiraghi best player award.
