Inter Annual Wage Bill Up To €116 Million

The overall wage bill of the entire Serie A has risen and, obviously, the arrival in Italy of Cristiano Ronaldo has contributed significantly to the rise in figures.

The Portuguese is the top earner in Serie A with his monumental €31 Million per season salary. Higuain follows in second, earning €9.5 Million at Milan. Another Juventino, Dybala, rounds out the top 3 with his €7 Million.

Then comes Pjanic who has just signed the renewal bringing him up to €6.5 Million along with Douglas Costa and Gigio Donnarumma (another Milan player) each with €6 Million. Upon his return to Turin, Bonucci has almost halved his salary: it was €10 Million with bonuses, but this has fallen to just €5.5 Million.

At club level, Gazzetta dello Sport illustrates the new situation. Juventus have reached €219 Million and the Milanese clubs are increasing with Milan up to €140 Million and Inter up to €116 Million. Roma have also reached €100 Million and Napoli €94 Million, highlighting that there is indeed a general upward trend.

Looking forward to future renewals, everyone at Inter has optimism about the new contract of Icardi, which is expiring in 3 years time. The hierarchy at Inter would gladly remove the €110 million release clause (for foreign countries), but Gazzetta dello Sport asks what would replace it:

The Argentine asks for a raise and a substantial increase. Ausilio does not want to go higher than €6 Million annual salary, partly because of Financial Fair Play that the directors at Inter have to abide by. The FFP problem also concerns Roma and, soon, Milan. The next few months will leave little room for further increases in salary.
