Matteo Politano has provided Inter with new solutions going forward since replacing Antonio Candreva on the right-hand side of attack, as FcInterNews.it have discussed in an article on Friday afternoon.
The 25 year-old joined the Nerazzurri this summer in a deal worth approximately €25 million and has started in each of Inter’s first three matches this season, impressing supporters for his directness and versatility in the attacking trio behind Mauro Icardi.
In particular though it is his tendency to take shots on goal – something Candreva struggled with for the majority of last season – that has caught the eye, something which has been borne out by statistics published on WhoScored’s website during the week.
“During the first three games of the season Politano made eight attempts on goal – all of which have come from open play – making for an average of 2.7 per game,” FcInterNews.it write.
“Six of these shots have come from outside the penalty area – something Luciano Spalletti is very pleased about – while the other two have been inside, one of which originated from within the six-yard box.
“75% of Politano’s attempts on goal, meanwhile, have come from his [preferred] left foot, with the remaining two divided between one header and one right-footed effort.
“As far as precision is concerned, three of his eight shots have been saved while four have finished off target, meaning only one has reached the opposition goal.”
