Gagliardini Included In Italy Squad For UEFA Nations League Opener

Roberto Gagliardini has been named in Roberto Mancini’s match-day squad for Italy’s UEFA Nations League opener against Poland on Friday night.

Gagliardini suffered huge disappointment last week when he was excluded from Inter’s Champions League squad ahead of this season’s group stage, which will see the Nerazzurri lock horns with Barcelona, Tottenham and PSV Eindhoven.

However he remains an important figure in midfield for the Azzurri and could play his second match at Bologna’s Stadio Renato Dall’Ara in the space of a week this evening, when Mancini will oversee his first competitive fixture in charge of the national team.

Gagliardini is the only Inter player who received an Italy call-up for the September international break, with Danilo D’Ambrosio, Antonio Candreva, Matteo Politano and Andrea Ranocchia all being left out.

Mancini’s full 23-man squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers – Sirigu, Perin, Donnarumma

Defenders – Chiellini, Criscito, Romagnoli, Caldara, Biraghi, Bonucci, Zappacosta

Midfielders – Barella, Jorginho, Bonaventura, Pellegrini, Gagliardini, Bernardeschi, Benassi

Forwards – Berardi, Balotelli, Insigne, Belotti, Chiesa, Immobile
