Inter captain Mauro Icardi is currently in the USA with the Argentinian national team preparing for their upcoming friendly fixtures against Guatemala and Colombia.

The Nerazzurri skipper spoke to Tyc Sports about his thoughts going into these two friendlies stating that: “I am here to demonstrate what I am worth. Scaloni [Argentina’s interim national team coach] continues to underline that I am an important player for him.”

The former Barcelona and Sampdoria man was then asked why he thinks he was not called up to the national team squad to take part in the FIFA World Cup this past summer by former Argentina national team coach Sampaoli, to which he replied: “Do not ask me why I was not called up for the World Cup. The coach decided that I had to stay outside the squad and it ended there. I am always available for the national team. We have to think about the present and the future.”
