Tottenham Clash Decisive For Inter’s Chances To Qualify From Champions League Group

Could the game between Inter and Tottenham tonight, in September, be a decisive one for Inter’s season, at least in terms of the club’s Champions League adventure? Yes, at least according to Milano based newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.

According to the report: “It actually is and there is no need for inventing a reason for that, this is due to the fact that if Inter wants to qualify, Tottenham is the team they have to defeat and a negative result in this first game would make qualifying to the knock-out rounds very, very difficult.”

The Gazzetta raises another aspect too reporting that: “But it is also an important game due to Inter’s start to the 2018/2019 Serie A season and the fact that Spalletti renewed his contract until 2021 a month ago. The voices being raised to replacing him with Antonio Conte has no roots within the organisation of the club but is something that has to be accounted for. Spalletti’s performance in the Champions League is a bit up-and-down. He conquered Madrid and eliminated Lyon, lost a playoff against Porto and got fired from Zenit in 2014 between the first and second leg against Dortmund.”
