Inter manager Luciano Spalletti spoke with Inter TV in the mixed zone at San Siro following the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.
“We had a good game and pressed them high to make them suffer. We often complicated life for ourselves however giving them counter attacks which meant we had to chase the ball and recover. Sometimes we were a bit imprecise in the build-up phase too. It is clear that you have to have positioning spot on and we manned the posts that needed to be.”
Spalletti proceeded to praise the subsitutes who came on and made a difference, in particular Borja Valero.
Those who entered did so with the intention of sinking the winning blow on an opponent who we had put on the ropes. I want to praise Borja Valero who despite having not played in the league this season has shown that he has the spirit.
He concluded the interview by looking forward to Saturday’s clash with Sampdoria and thanked fans for their support at San Siro.
“We are dealing with a serious team and to keep the concentration high we will work with the usual professionalism and seriousness in training. The crowd tonight has given us so many emotions and we must try to repay their trust.”
