Mauro Icardi’s ruthlessness in front of goal and Radja Nainggolan’s improving fitness levels have been the key to Inter’s resurgence in recent weeks, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Both players were on the score-sheet in midweek as the Nerazzurri came from behind to record a 2-1 win over PSV Eindhoven, their fifth straight success in all competitions, moving them joint-top of Group B alongside Barcelona.
“Icardi’s goal was his third this season and his second consecutive goal in the Champions League,” the Rome-based publication said on Friday.
“Thanks to his strike at the Philips Stadion he’s now reached 110 goals in an Inter shirt and Vieri – the club’s eighth highest all-time goal-scorer with 123 – is moving ever closer.
“On Wednesday evening Wanda Nara was in the stands to cheer him on, having flown in on a private jet with their son Valentino the day before, and she has since posted plenty of photos on social media which show her celebrating the victory.
“While Icardi scored Inter’s second goal, Nainggolan was responsible for scoring the equalising goal at the most opportune moment, or rather right on the stroke of half-time.
“Ninja has made real progress since mid-September, which can be put down to the personalised training program he has followed in his quest to return to full fitness.”
