It is no secret that Inter club captain Mauro Icardi is absolutely lethal in the box and the numbers confirm this. Corriere dello Sport have worked out that 107 of the Argentine’s 112 goals in a Nerazzurri shirt have come from within the box.

After a slow start to the campaign, Icardi has scored five goals in his last five outings for Inter and will now be looking to transfer that form on to the international stage. He has made five appearances for the Argentine national team but has yet to open his account for them. He is part of the squad that will play friendly matches with Iraq and Brazil over this international break.

Once the international break concludes – where he may or may not score – he will be tasked with doing what he does best upon his return to Inter with them due to play Milan, Barcelona and Lazio in the next three games, the toughest run they have had so far this season.
