Former Inter and Milan manager Leonardo spoke on the upcoming Milan derby as he accepted the 2018 Premio Liedholm award.
“The derby is a typical derby, you can say all you want but the story only emerges once the referee’s whistle is blown for the first time. The derby is always a thriller,” the Milan director said in an interview with Milannews.it.
The Brazilian, who managed Inter for half of the 2010/11 season, then spoke on both the teams in view of the game.
“We [Milan] are growing and for us it will be a great test. I see a team more aware of what they can do and they are understanding that they can do important things together.
“I respect Inter a lot, I have great respect for Massimo Moratti, we have a great relationship.”
The derby is scheduled to take place on October 21 with kick-off at San Siro scheduled for 20:30 CET.
