Mauro Icardi: “I Have Never Thought Of Leaving Inter”

Mauro Icardi returns to Barcelona as an opponent for the first time tonight as he prepares to play on the Camp Noù’s pitch for the first time.

Icardi was put under pressure by questions concerning his future in yesterday’s press conference and clarified the situation: “I am happy at Inter, I have no intention of going away and me and my family are well in Milano. I want to reach my goals and I want to improve the image of Inter. I am the captain of this team and I want to defend the colors of this jersey the best I can. That is why I have never thought of leaving, even when there were offers, and I will have the same attitude for future offers.”

In today’s paper edition of the newspaper, Milano based Gazzetta dello Sport interprets what Icardi is saying: “This is a call to the club, maybe in order to strengthen his position in the ongoing negotiations for renewing his contract. There will be a renewal, because there just is not any other way and the buy-out clause will be raised from the current €110 million.”
