Handanovic Matches Saves Record For Inter Keeper In Champions League

Samir Handanovic matched the record for saves by an Inter goalkeeper in a Champions League match with nine saves in last night’s 2-0 loss to Barcelona according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

Francesco Toldo was the first player to record that feat way back in 2003 as Inter faced Arsenal and now Handanovic is the joint record holder alongside him.

Handanovic, despite the odd blip throughout the season so far, has been crucial for Inter in the Champions League and played a huge part in Inter winning their opening two group stage games with Tottenham Hotspur and PSV Eindhoven. He was unable to keep out shots from Rafinha and Jordi Alba last night but undoubtedly helped in keeping what could have been a big scoreline down.
