Corriere dello Sport have praised Inter’s defence for the recent upturn in form they have experienced compared to the beginning of the season.
“Inter’s strength is its defence, a department that had started the league with ‘open doors’, with three goals conceded in the first 180 minutes against Sassuolo and Torino and that, since then, in the last eight matches they have started working with the precision of a Swiss watch: just three goals put past them, goodbye to criticism and they are soaring in the standings.
“The team has achieved an overall solidity and, despite rotation, never loses its balance. Difficult to break down and especially so far has never given a goal away on the counterattack. This is a signal that the marking is working. A further positive signal comes from the shots conceded in a match: Juventus are out in front with just 2.6 average per match, but behind the Italian champions there are Fiorentina (3.2 per game) and then Inter along with Atalanta on (3.3).
“To find an Inter that conceded fewer goals than the current one after 10 matches, it is necessary to go back to the 2010-11 season, the last time a trophy arrived. With Rafa Benitez on the bench, the goals were less as just five were conceded, but the points in the standings were 19 (not 22 as now).”
