Inter’s welcome video for Radja Nainggolan this summer has helped them become Serie A’s second most successful club for engagement with its fans on social media, according to a report published this week.
Digital consulting company IQUII have published an investigation into how Europe’s top clubs involve their supporters across their various social media platforms, titled ‘The European Football Club’, analysing both follower counts and the proportion of followers who interact with individual posts.
Juventus top both tables as far as Italy’s top flight is concerned, with over three times as many followers on Instagram as second-placed Milan and more than eight times as many as Inter in third.
The Nerazzurri however have recently enjoyed a boom in terms of ‘engagement rate’, with a score of 3.02% placing them second behind the Bianconeri – and this was thanks in no small part to the video the club published welcoming Nainggolan in June, in which the Belgian was depicted as a Ninja while jumping across buildings in Milan.
Almost 12% of the club’s Instagram followers interacted with the post, while more than 200,000 people ‘liked’ it. Inter’s decision to use the hashtag #WelcomeNinja was also said to have been a successful ploy.
