Ivan Perisic has revealed that he was close to signing for Premier League giants Manchester United in recent years and the reason behind his decision to remain in Milan with Inter.

The Red Devils have been sniffing around him for the past two summers but Inter have held firm.

“It is true that an offer from Manchester United was on the table and that I was close to leaving Inter but I decided to stay and, as I said, Luciano Spalletti’s perseverance to keep me played a big role. In football, small details in these situations are key,” he said in an interview with magazine Four Four Two for the coming month’s edition.

The Croatian winger joined Inter in the summer of 2015 ahead of the 2015/16 season and has went on to make 135 appearances for the club since. Perisic has made 17 of those appearances this season, scoring two and tallying two assists.
