Zanetti: “I Hope To Make A Mark At Inter As Vice-President Also”

Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti has shared his desire to make a mark at the club from his current position in addition to having already done so as a player in an interview with Sport Mediaset where he first spoke on retirement.

“It was difficult for me to think about that day, but sooner or later it had to come. Among other things, in the 2013-2014 season, I suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury and everyone thought that it would have been my last game. Instead my mind immediately focused back to the field. I wanted to go back to San Siro to be able to feel the love of the fans again. That night [when I retired] was unforgettable. I hoped it would never end.”

“It [being a vice-president] is another life, certainly different from being on the field. I wanted to experience a different aspect of football. I really like what I am doing. It is enriching for me as a person and I hope to leave my mark at the club as vice-president also. I have never felt the desire to be a coach and even my wife told me that I am better suited for a management position.”
