Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has revealed that Inter above all else are looking for quality in the transfer window and would be particularly happy if a player of quality is found who is of Italian origin.
“Modric was a midsummer dream but now we work toward the next transfer window. We have our scouts out looking for players who can improve the team that already has an important foundation. We have to find quality, regardless of nationality, but if they are Italian, we will be even happier,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the Sports Director of the year 2018 award ceremony.
“Tonali? He is one of those players and Barella and there are also some at Atalanta. Seriously, how can you not follow these players? We are good at anticipating the transfer market as evidenced by us signing Bastoni from Atalanta. He is doing well and we are convinced that he will be an important player in the future for Inter.”
He also commented on the Mauro Icardi situation.
“We are not sensitive to the chirps. The door is open almost 24 hours a day and we are ready to welcome our players’ agents to discuss contract renewals. I think his will is to continue and move forward with Inter. We will speak with seriousness and professionalism in the office certainly not in television broadcasts. They are full of ideas and fantasies that occasionally lead to something and something to nothing. We would like for him to continue with Inter for a long time.”
