Gazzetta dello Sport have analysed the situation surrounding Mauro Icardi renewing his contract both with sponsors Nike and Inter.

“The couple [Mauro and agent and wife Wanda] went to London, where they confirmed their relationship with Nike for another 9 years. Mauro has been linked to the American company since 2013 and the current contract was due to expire in spring.

“Wanda has thus closed the sought after misunderstanding, appreciated up to a certain extent by the club, which had to deny the existence of a negotiation in the finishing line.

“Soon, in all reality, work on a contract renewal with Inter will begin too. While the parties are divided by a couple million per season with Inter offering €6 million while Icardi is looking for €8 million but despite this there they are united by the will to continue together.”

The 25-year-old is currently under contract with Inter until 2021 and reports have suggested Inter wish to extend his contract until 2023.
