Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta is making a point about managing the contract renewal with Mauro Icardi according to a report from Sport Mediaset.
Inter does not want to let the captain leave and wants to discuss the events and reach a conclusion on a renewal. Marotta, who joined Inter on Friday, has already been in contract with his new partner Piero Ausilio to let him know that the approach initially taken was not the correct one. Together they will aim to correct the process and start over again in a different way.
The report goes on to discuss the likely outcome of the talks.
“The impression is that if Inter managed to offer a fixed salary of around €7.5 million enriched by bonuses to get to €8.5 million (about the same as his Argentine counterpart, Gonzalo Higuain) this long love story could be extended until 2024, securing the captain, the bomber, the man-symbol from the possible assault of the European superpowers.”
