Since losing a chance to play on a weekly basis, his value has now dropped. With this, the once untouchable young striker is now being considered a bargaining chip to land Gabriel Barbosa from Inter according to a report from FCInterNews.it.

Flamengo are really considering a move for Gabigol, even if it means giving up a talented young player, who in reality, may not live up to the hype (similarly to Gabigol’s time at Inter and Benfica.) Nonetheless, this still remains an idea rather than a formality. Gabigol still wants to get a chance to represent his national team, so the only way for that is if he were to play regularly, which he has done in Brazil, but not in Europe. Gabigol still wants another chance in Europe regardless of his history. To Lincoln, signing for Inter would represent a dream for him. He has the interest of the Nerazzurri, which is why there is hope that a deal can be struck, for everyone’s sake.

The state of the negotiations are still premature with nothing concrete on the table yet. Inter have fulfilled all their non-EU slots which makes this a little bit difficult as he will need to be registered to another club until he is eligible to join Inter. A loan for a year and a half would be in place to adapt to Serie A and mature as a player. This is a story that will be lingering, and if a deal could be made, it seems Inter would be quick to say yes to it.
