British broadsheet The Guardian has published a shortlist of who they think are the top 100 players around the world from this past year.
A panel of 225 experts from 69 difference countries contributed to compile this list and two Inter players were mentioned just outside of the top 10. Nerazzurri captain, Mauro Icardi was voted as the 32nd best player in the world, only to be beaten by Croatian winger, Ivan Perisic, coming in at 29th place.
A surprise in the rankings was that PSG’s Brazilian winger, Neymar was not included in the top 10 category, finishing in 11th place overall.
Perisic was coming off a good season with Inter scoring 11 goals for the Nerazzurri. To add to his season full of goals, he performed very well in this summers World Cup in which he led his team to the Finals, only to be beaten by a strong French side. Icardi was not chosen for Argentina’s World Cup squad
