Diego Godin finds himself unable to come to a new contractual agreement with his current club, Atletico Madrid, according to a report in Spanish media outlet Marca.
Godin has been playing for Atletico since 2010 and has been serving as their captain and the Uruguayan center back still has 6 months to find an agreement with the club, but can talk freely to any club he pleases. According to the report however there is little to no chance that he will extends his contract with Atletico Madrid which means that Godin would be able to transfer freely to any club under the Bosman ruling.
Diego Godin is currently 32 years old and signed his last contract extension back in 2013, which kept him in Madrid until 2019. He had also rejected a move to Manchester City in which he would have been reunited with his former coach, Manuel Pellegrini who is currently at West Ham.
During his time at Atletico, Godin has won La Liga, Copa Del Rey and the UEFA Europa League, while finishing runner-up in the Champions League twice. Godin was also nominated for the 2018 Ballon D’or.
