Inter and Mauro Icardi have never been so far apart in the eyes of Corriere della Sera who examined the delicate situation with regards to a contract renewal with the club.

“The renewal of the captain is more complicated every day because reconciling the position of the new CEO Beppe Marotta with that of Wanda Nara will not be simple.

“Marotta’s methods do not provide for flexibility. The delay of the return flight from his holidays in Argentine is not a good look and being club captain only aggravates the situation. The wind has definitely changed at Inter.

“Firmness will also be used in the meeting scheduled for next week with Wanda Nara who made statements that have irritated the club. Marotta wants to keep Icardi and considers him important but he is convinced that the renewal should be done but wants to clear the air with Wanda who he has not yet met. The relations remain tense, the renewal is far away but still possible.”
