Matteo Politano has looked ahead to this weekend’s match at home to San Siro but first spoke on having to play in an empty stadium.

“It is strange compared to what we have been used to in recent months. Every time we have taken to the field there has always been a lot of people and then to take to the field without any supporters as I say is something very strange,” the Italian international explained in an interview with Inter TV.

“We are working well and we can not wait for Saturday to arrive as it has been a little while since we last played in Serie A.”

Politano joined Inter from Sassuolo in the Summer and spoke on coming up against his former employers.

“For sure I will feel some emotion as I will be playing against former teammates but we have to try to win the game. In the first meeting we lost and last year Inter was unable to beat Sassuolo at all. De Zerbi’s team plays very well and they have put a lot of opponents in trouble this season.”

He concluded by commenting on Inter’s season so far.

“We did great things in the Champions League, even if we did not manage to get through, we are doing well in the league too. We are third in the league and in 2019 we can only improve and it will be fun.”
