Atletico Madrid have tried to convince Diego Godin in to signing a new contract but the Uruguayan has reiterated he is not interested in prolonging his stay with the club according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

The Spanish capital club have upped their most recent contract offer although it still falls short of what Inter have offered him to join them at the end of the season once his contract expires.

Moreover, as per various reports Inter have offered him a two year deal with the option to a third while Atleti have offered him a one year extension with an option to a final year given he makes a set amount of appearances.

The 32-year-old has been with the Colchoneros since 2010 and has went on to make no less than 373 appearances across all competitions in the time since.

This season he has made 23 appearances across all competitions and has contributed two goals and assisted just as many in 1952 minutes on the park.
