The next meeting between Inter and the representatives of Mauro Icardi over a new contract with the club will be decisive according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport.

Inter management trio Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta, Piero Ausilio and Giovanni Gardini had a positive meeting with Icardi’s wife/agent Wanda Icardi in recent days where the parties shared ambition to continue together was affirmed.

This was the first time that Marotta had taken part in talks with Wanda and another meeting is scheduled for the coming days to deal with certain aspects of the negotiations, namely the salary and clauses of the deal.

The 25-year-old Argentine striker has been on Inter’s books since 2013 and has been a prolific goalscorer in his time with the club scoring 121 goals in 206 appearances.

This season Icardi has 14 goals and three assists to his name in just shy of 2000 minutes and his current contract with the club is due to expire at the end of the 2020/21 season.
