Luciano Spalletti shared his thoughts and feeling on his side’s performance in their 2-0 victory over SPAL at San Siro this afternoon.
“We had to do better in the first half as we were a bit shy in the build-up phase and it was clear that our opponents, despite them being in a difficult period, were beginning to get at us because they knew how we played. If you do not go at your opponents, they come at you instead. In the second half our game developed and we then scored goals.
“If the opponents see you give up a little bit then they will slaughter you, so we will have to face our upcoming games convinced that we have all it takes especially at a time when we do not have many players. We want to win both of our next two games.”
He was then asked about his team selection process.
“I will make these calculations from the start of the week but my final decision does not come until the day before the match. We do not hesitate about putting one player in place of another as I know all of my players well.
He then spoke on the respective conditions of both Marcelo Brozovic and Miranda after both players were forced off due to injury.
“It is unlikely that Brozovic and Miranda will be there to face Eintracht Frankfurt. The Croatian has a muscle injury and the Brazilian has a broken nose.
He concluded by explaining why Keita Balde did not feature as expected.
“We would have put him on had the game still been goalless but in the end it is probably better that he has not had to play because he can get more training under his belt before returning to the field.”
