In an interview with Inter TV, Inter midfielder Joao Mario shared his thoughts and feelings on the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win over SPAL this afternoon at San Siro.

Matteo Politano opened the scoring for Inter on 67 minutes and Roberto Gagliardini doubled Luciano Spalletti’s sides’ advantage 10 minutes later to secure all three points.

“In Italy there are never any easy games. SPAL is a tough, aggressive team who can play football,” the Portuguese said post-match.

“It was important for us to win and we did just that. We did not have much space to play but after the goal things became easier. We needed to run a lot and needed a lot of determination to win the game.

Asked about the importance of the result in view of next weekend’s Milan derby, he was quick to stress the need for the team to focus on the Europa League match with Eintracht Frankfurt firstly.

“It is an important three points for us ahead of the Milan derby but first we need to think about playing Eintracht Frankfurt.”
