Former Inter defender Riccardo Ferri has shared his thoughts on Inter manager Luciano Spalletti’s decision not to call up Mauro Icardi for last night’s 1-0 loss at home to Lazio.
“This could have been the moment to dilute the situation,” he said while he was a guest on Sport Mediaset show Tiki Taka.
“The choice of Spalletti is a technical one and one that is shared by the management. I think Icardi could have been made available to the team as it was the moment to calm the environment, but an opportunity was lost.”
He then went on to discuss whether he felt Icardi could have made an impact last night.
“Would Icardi have helped Inter against Lazio? Of course, as always. His quality and his strength has always been known but this situation is the result of particular interpersonal relationships. Even if he only has half an hour in his legs, you give your all in that half hour.”
