Journalist Luigi Garlando dedicated his weekly newspaper column in Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport to Inter and their defeat to Lazio last night.
“Mauro Icardi, who scored two goals against Lazio in the first leg, is sitting in the stands next to Wanda. The striker on the pitch is firstly an outsider (Keita) then a midfielder (Vecino ). This is the depressing photograph of Inter who are unable to resolve their internal storms,” he began.
“Beating Lazio would have driven them five ahead of Milan, nine ahead of Roma and almost secure third place. Instead they lost to Lazio who, presuming they win their game in hand against Udinese, can be in fourth place and just two points behind the Nerazzurri.”
He concluded by praising Lazio, who have kept their Champions League qualification dream alive with the win: “Lazio were good at taking advantage of the Nerazzurri fragility and snatched a heavy victory that takes them beyond Roma.”
