Borja Valero has insisted that he and his teammates need to ‘recover immediately’ following the 1-0 loss to Lazio on Sunday night.

“We had an important opportunity to gain three points on a direct opponent but we did not succeed,” he told the gathered journalists in the San Siro mixed zone.

“Now we must recover immediately. We suffer more than we should and now we have to rest easy.”

The veteran Spaniard then spoke on Mauro Icardi.

“We no longer have to talk about this subject, the coach has spoken about it many times before. I don’t know what the solution is to seeing him again on the field, we will see what will happen.”

He then went on to discuss the group and the rest of the season.

“We have demonstrated to be a good group, we are united and we want to achieve our goals. All of our upcoming opponents are formidable, we still have to play against so many important teams.

He concluded by praising Keita Balde for his performance.
“Keita has played a good game. It is easy to talk about the absence of Lautaro after a defeat, but we have the right players to replace him.”
