Cagliari have been in contact with the representatives of Inter youngster Davide Merola according to a report from FCInterNews.it.

Yesterday afternoon, the Rossoblu met with agent Marcello Carli over other players but used the opportunity to discuss Merola.

Cagliari’s president Tomasso Giullini is a big fan of Merola, who will more than likely be loaned out to a Serie B club next season if he is to arrive. In fact, the report goes on, Frosinone, Virtus Entella and Benevento have all enquired already.

It has been reported by various news outlets that Inter could include the Italian youth international as part of a deal that would send Cagliari’s star man Nicolo Barella to Inter.

Merola joined Inter at under 17 level back in 2017 and has since progressed into Inter’s Primavera, the highest youth level at the club.

In the 2018/19 season, the 19-year-old striker made 31 appearances across all competitions. In 1406 minutes, he scored 12 goals and made two assists.
