Reasons Why Juventus’ Appeal Over Inter Being Award Titles As Part Of Calciopoli Was Rejected

Gazzetta dello Sport have explained the legal rationale behind why Juventus’ latest appeal against the Calciopoli judgement was deemed inadmissible.

“In light of the above, it can therefore be concluded that the appeal of Juventus and the complaints contained therein, under any prospect, are examined, not only cannot be brought to the attention of the College of guarantee of sport, since inadmissible, but it can, likewise, asserting that they can no longer be the object of deliberation by the sports justice system,” the report begins.

“The College chaired by Franco Frattini, in the reasons, initially declares his incompetence and claims that Juve, faced with the rejection of the Tnas, should have turned to the High Court of Justice at the time.

“It is not conceivable that the club would try to remedy this omission after more than seven years.”

The Milan based newspaper also got a comment from lawyer Roberto Argeri on the matter: “The College of guarantee of sport is the last resort when it comes to sport justice. The word ‘end’ can not be put alongside the very long controversy.”

Calciopoli was a match-fixing scandal that rocked Italian football back in 2006 and resulted in several clubs being docked points and in some cases relegated for their part in it.

In Juventus’ case, they were stripped of several Serie A titles and demoted to Serie B with their Serie A titles assigned to Inter.

Ever since this judgement, the Bianconeri have appealed on numerous occasions in a bid for those titles to be taken from Inter, even though the Turin club still count them in their Serie A title total.
