Luciano Spalletti Was Losing Everything But Did Not Stop

La Repubblica have heaped praise upon Luciano Spalletti for the way in which he handled what proved to be his final weeks as manager of Inter.

Spalletti was relieved of his duties yesterday just days after the passing of his brother and it was today confirmed that Antonio Conte is the club’s new manager.

“He was losing everything. The name of his heir has been mentioned for weeks on the pages of every Italian newspaper and yet Spalletti did not stop even for a moment to breathe,” the report starts.

“He did not ask for a truce or ask the club for a few days to himself. Every day, for weeks, he travelled a 700km distance. On the one hand he had Inter and had to prepare the team for a game worth €50 million and on the other hand he had his family, bent by the pain of accompanying Marcello in the final hours of his life.”
