Suning Owner Zhang Jindong Flies To Madrid To Meet New Inter Boss Antonio Conte

Suning owner Zhang Jindong will meet new Inter boss Antonio Conte in Madrid this weekend ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final, as reported by Corriere della Sera.

Zhang has not traveled to Europe explicitly for matters relating to Inter in more than two years, but he will attend tomorrow’s match between Tottenham and Liverpool along with Conte and the club’s management.

Conte was officially unveiled as Luciano Spalletti’s replacement on Friday morning and flew out to the Spanish capital with Beppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio and others.

“The meeting between Conte, Zhang and Inter’s management will help to identify transfer targets and lay out the objectives for the coming season,” the Milanese-based paper said.

“Inter will no longer be happy just to qualify for the Champions League. It’s time to target a trophy, enter Europe’s top eight and move towards winning the Scudetto in the next two seasons.”

Inter have all-but secured the arrival of Edin Dzeko from Roma and will now focus most of their attentions on securing Fiorentina star Federico Chiesa and Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella.

Romelu Lukaku is the club’s preferred substitute for Mauro Icardi while the Belgian’s Manchester United teammate Alexis Sanchez and PSV winger Steven Bergwijn are being lined up to replace Ivan Perisic.
