Following his official appointment as manager of Inter, Tuttosport have recalled when Inter first showed an interest in Antonio Conte.

“The first signs of Suning’s interest in Conte dates back to 27 June 2016. This was the eve of the first Inter assembly with the new Chinese owners at the helm,” the report begins.

“At the end of a preparatory meeting, Inter’s owner Jindong Zhang, together with Javier Zanetti, Giovanni Gardini, Alessandro Antonello, Erick Thohir and Michael Bolingbroke watched the EURO 2016 round of 16 clash between Italy and Spain.

“The Azzurri won the match 2-0 and the next day, Zhang praised the spirit that the national team, led by Antonio Conte, showed.”
