Inter are closing in on a deal to sell defender Zinho Vanheusden to Standard Liege for €20 million, according to Tuttosport.
Talks between the parties began when the Belgian club’s representatives visited Milan last month and are progressing very quickly towards a positive conclusion.
Inter will also send midfielder Xian Emmers on loan as part of the deal, in the hope they can make money from his own sale later down the line.
“The mountain of money Inter dumped into their 2018-19 financial records by sacking Luciano Spalletti is starting to look less frightening,” Tuttosport reported.
“The deal for Vanheusden isn’t done yet but Piero Ausilio’s excellent relations with Bruno Venanzi and Alexandre Grosjean mean it’s at an advanced stage.”
Inter will reserve a ‘moral buy-back option’ on Vanheusden, allowing the club a chance to sign the defender back without interference from other interested clubs.
Vanheusden has spent the last 18 months on loan in Belgium but has seen his game-time limited due to two serious injury layoffs.
Inter now hope they can raise the rest of the €45 million they need for Financial Fair Play before 30 June by selling Federico Dimarco, one of Davide Merola or Dalbert and a couple more of their young players.
