Inter met Sassuolo last night to discuss Stefano Sensi, but Milan remain favourites to sign the midfielder.
Piero Ausilio had dinner with the Neroverdi’s chief executive Giovanni Carnevali, after Inter announced the signing of Matteo Politano on a permanent deal earlier in the evening.
Sensi’s agent Giuseppe Riso was also in attendance as the Nerazzurri sought further information on the 23-year-old’s current situation.
Milan are more likely to sign the Italian because they made their approach first, but Inter are ‘at the window’ waiting for developments.
Ausilio’s interest for Sensi may be related to Inter’s quest to raise €45 million in capital gains (‘plusvalenze’) before 30 June, as they look to stay in line with Financial Fair Play rules.
Sassuolo could be willing to accept some of Inter’s young players as part payment for the midfielder, which would help Ausilio solve two problems in one deal.
Inter remain keen on Nicolo Barella but talks with Cagliari have slowed this week.
