Piero Ausilio today assured supporters Antonio Conte ‘appreciates’ Inter’s current squad, saying the club are looking for ‘quality and not quantity’ in the transfer market.
Inter are making slow progress on their main targets with deals for Nicolo Barella and Edin Dzeko proving more difficult than expected.
Ausilio spoke at an event in Cesena this morning but kept his cards close to his chest when asked for specific updates.
“Conte likes this squad and he calls me 10 times a day to ask how things are going,” he said.
“I’m not going to name names here: we will sign three or four players and prioritise quality over quantity.
“We’re working at the moment but it doesn’t make sense to discuss individual targets.”
Ausilio attended England’s match against France in the UEFA European Under-21 Championships on Tuesday but refused to be drawn on links to Ryan Sessegnon and Lucas Tousart.
“It’s true, I watched the game, but we’re following a lot of players,” he added.
“I took the opportunity to have a look at potential talents ahead of my appearance at this event in Cesena today.”
