Inter & Milan Want To Refurbish Or Replace San Siro, City Mayor Says

Inter and Milan are both convinced San Siro can no longer service their needs in its current form, according to city mayor Giuseppe Sala.

The clubs are expected to present their plans for a new stadium to Milan’s council before they begin preseason training next month.

Sala admitted he would prefer not to demolish San Siro but vowed to listen to what the Nerazzurri and Rossoneri had to say.

“They’re going to come and lay their cards on the table before the summer holidays,” Sala told reporters on Thursday.

“Both clubs believe they need to either build a new stadium or refurbish the current one.

“I would rather they found the motivation to modernise San Siro, but if they came to me saying they wanted a new stadium, which is different and more modern, and were reluctant to play elsewhere while renovation work was taking place, then I can only listen to them.”

Neither Inter nor Milan have officially confirmed their intention to get rid of San Siro but they are widely thought to be of that persuasion.
