Inter & AC Milan Want 60,000 Capacity For New San Siro

Inter and Milan want their new San Siro stadium to be a 60,000-seater ground, according to Corriere della Sera.

The clubs will officially present their ‘project of technical and financial feasibility’ to the city council later today, which marks the first step in their plan to build a new complex.

The planning application will confirm an expected cost of €600-700 million and consider ‘possible alternative’ projects, but these will not include the idea of renovating the current San Siro.

Inter and Milan would need three years to build the stadium after receiving the final green light, but the paper reported San Siro cannot be touched until after it has hosted the opening ceremony for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Today’s meeting will not include mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala or any of the clubs’ key managerial figures, instead being restricted to the technicians and designers representing both sides.

The planned new stadium would be built on the land where San Siro’s car park currently lies, with a brand new commercial centre established nearby.

Corriere warned that the road to reaching an agreement between the parties is likely to be ‘long and tortuous’, though.
