Antonio Conte was ‘cold’ and ‘direct’ with Mauro Icardi and Radja Nainggolan on Monday when telling the pair they have no future at Inter, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Both players are being excluded from Inter’s tactical drills at their Swiss training camp, where yesterday Conte tried out a three-man defence for the first time.
Neither will take part in Sunday’s first summer friendly against Lugano, either, as the Nerazzurri look to offload them as quickly as possible.
“The club’s decisions had been clear for a long time but it matters how you inform players of those decisions too,” Gazzetta reported.
“Conte did not leave the door open to any possible change of heart or future possibility for Icardi and Nainggolan to stay.
“The line has been drawn and he does not want any distractions as he works on building his new team.”
Nainggolan is opening up to the idea of moving to China, while Icardi continues to act as if nothing has happened on social media.
The pair were encouraged by the very small group of supporters waiting outside Inter’s training complex but it will not be enough to save their Inter careers.
