Inter remain confident they will sign Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United despite the Red Devils’ €75 million asking price, according to Gazzetta.it.

Piero Ausilio is flying to Manchester tonight and will hold talks in person with the Premier League club on Thursday.

Inter have already agreed personal terms with Lukaku and want to make it clear to United they are seriously interested.

Lukaku is Antonio Conte’s no. 1 transfer target up front and the Nerazzurri hope Ausilio’s trip to England will help them make progress.

Conte has overseen three days of preseason training so far at his summer camp in Switzerland, but neither Lukaku nor Edin Dzeko have arrived yet.

Lautaro Martinez’s delayed summer holidays and Mauro Icardi’s exclusion from tactical work means Matteo Politano is the only first-team forward currently available.

Inter will face Manchester United in Singapore on 20 July and Lukaku hopes he will be playing for the Nerazzurri when that friendly fixture arrives.
