Inter can target the Scudetto this season if the Nerazzurri assimilate Antonio Conte’s new ideas quickly, according to the club’s former forward Antonio Cassano.

Conte is hard at work in Switzerland this week as he prepares for Sunday’s first preseason friendly against Lugano.

The former Juventus and Chelsea boss has done little to hide his ambition of winning trophies and Cassano is confident he stands a good chance.

“There’s still a long way to go in the transfer window but I’ll go out on a limb and say that now,” the ex-Italy international told Il Secolo XIX.

“Conte is the only coach out there who can make you perform at your best from the beginning to the end of a season. If other teams make mistakes he wins the title.

“That was what happened when I was playing for Milan. We were the stronger and more organised side but we drew at home to Bologna and Fiorentina, and Conte’s Juventus won the league instead.”
