Mauro Icardi’s age and style of play are the two reasons Juventus want to sign the Inter striker, according to Tuttosport.

Icardi is training with Antonio Conte in Switzerland this week but the club have made it clear he has no future with the Nerazzurri.

Juve remain the most likely destination for the 26-year-old and the paper today tried to explain why the Bianconeri were so interested.

“Juventus want Cristiano Ronaldo to play alongside a centre-forward who runs in behind defences, thereby creating space for the Portuguese superstar between the lines, and who can attack the opposition’s goal with similar quality,” they wrote.

“There’s also the fact Ronaldo’s deal will end in 2022, when Icardi will be 29 years of age. If Cristiano were to leave at that point then Juve would still have an exceptional finisher in their squad.”

Icardi is five years younger than Gonzalo Higuain and this is thought to be the reason the Old Lady want to replace the latter with the former.
