Romelu Lukaku remains committed to joining Antonio Conte at Inter despite strong interest from Juventus, according to FcInterNews.it.
The Nerazzurri have agreed a five-year deal worth €7.5 million net annually, which could rise to €9 million, with the Belgian, who remains their first choice up front.
Juventus are widely reported to have overtaken Inter in the battle for Lukaku, having offered Paulo Dybala to United for the Belgian plus €20 million.
However, Inter last night made United an improved offer worth €70 million plus €5-8 million in bonuses and are awaiting a response.
Edinson Cavani remains Inter’s first alternative if their pursuit fails, but they will not step up their interest for the Paris Saint-Germain forward until signing Lukaku becomes impossible.
Suning recently made contact with Cavani’s agent Marcelo Simonian to receive confirmation the Uruguayan would be interested, but they have not gone any further for now.
Cavani earns €14 million annually in Paris, where he is valued at €50 million, and wants a three-year deal worth €10 million net to consider an Inter move.
The parties will reconvene at a later date but Inter currently remain concentrated on coaxing Lukaku away from Juventus.
Simonian tried to set up a swap deal between Inter and PSG involving Cavani and Mauro Icardi earlier this year, but Maurito had no interest in moving to Ligue 1.
Neither the forward nor his wife and agent Wanda Nara have any desire to join PSG now, either, because he remains determined to stay in Italy whatever happens.
Napoli have upped their pressing for Inter’s former captain, but Icardi still prefers a move to Juventus at the moment.
In any case, the 26-year-old’s first choice remains another season with Inter, which his entourage again reiterated to the Nerazzurri’s management recently.
