Fiorentina advisor Joe Barone flatly denied reports this evening suggesting they were poised to sign Radja Nainggolan on loan.

Sky Sport said Inter had agreed a deal with the Viola after Fiorentina expressed a ‘strong interest’ in the player last night.

However, Barone, who is one of Rocco Commisso’s trustiest allies, told Violanews.com this was not the case.

He said: “People are talking about it but there’s no truth in it. Nainggolan is a great player but he belongs to Inter and not us.

“We already have lots of good ‘made in Florence’ players in our squad who showed great promise during our tour of the United States.

“Myself, Daniele Prade and Vincenzo Montella are happy with who we have. Then you have to consider what the market offers you every day.”

Barone also spared a quick word for Federico Chiesa, who seems certain to stay in Florence after being close to Juventus last month.

He added: “It’s pointless always answering the same question. He has a contract with Fiorentina and he’s our player, he’s happy and he’s training with us. There’s no issue here.”
