Fiorentina are working on a loan deal for Radja Nainggolan but the Inter midfielder would rather join Cagliari, according to Sport Mediaset.
The Viola have all but completed the signings of Pol Lirola and Kevin-Prince Boateng from Sassuolo, and now they want the Belgian.
Inter are willing to send him on loan and pay part of Nainggolan’s wages, but at those conditions he would prefer a return to Sardinia.
Nainggolan made his breakthrough in Serie A with Cagliari and was linked earlier this week, but Tommaso Giulini dismissed the reports as ‘fantasy football’ earlier this week.
Fiorentina have eyed up Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul as a fallback to Nainggolan, who was followed by Inter while Luciano Spalletti was still in charge.
The Argentine would cost €30 million but his wages are far less onerous than the Ninja’s, who is one of the Nerazzurri’s highest-paid players.
Nainggolan has not yet given up hope of convincing Antonio Conte to give him a second chance in Milan.
However, Conte seems unshakable in his desire to discard the 30-year-old and will exclude him from Sunday’s friendly against Tottenham.
