Inter are hopeful Diego Godin can persuade his Uruguay teammate Edinson Cavani to join the Nerazzurri, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Cavani has no fellow countryman in the dressing room at Paris Saint-Germain, but he would have both Godin and Matias Vecino to speak to in Milan.
The trio crossed paths when Inter played PSG in a friendly last weekend and spent a few minutes talking on the touchline.
“Perhaps they touched upon the idea of playing altogether in Milan next season,” the Rome-based paper suggested this morning.
“If that didn’t happen, one imagines a phone call will be made in the next few days.”
Godin and Cavani are said to have a ‘special relationship’ after their various years playing together for the Celeste.
Inter want El Matador to join after Juventus overtook them in the race to sign Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United.
Vice-president Javier Zanetti visited Uruguay’s capital earlier this week to inaugurate the Nerazzurri’s new academy in Montevideo.
